Players tweeting that Abry Jones may be out for the season
Late word on Twitter Tuesday night was that Abry Jones may be out for the season.
Several UGA players were tweeting after practice Tuesday about going to visit Jones, supposedly at St. Mary’s Hospital, where he had surgery. And Jones’ close friend, former Bulldog Derrick Lott, who’s now playing at UT-Chattanooga, tweeted this message to Jones on Tuesday:
“Big S/o to my homie my brother my dawg @JUSTAB3 he had surgery today and is done for the season … Stay up fool I’m here we here #salute”
Jones was listed as “out” with a “left ankle injury” on Tuesday’s post-practice report and Georgia defensive coordinator Todd Grantham wouldn’t speculate on Jones’ status. “We’ll have to wait and see how the report comes out.”
UGA officials said Tuesday night “they could not confirm anything regarding Abry Jones tonight.”
Jones, a 6-foot-3, 308-pound senior from Warner Robins, has started 26 games for the Bulldogs at defensive end. He had 17 tackles before having to leave the Oct. 6 game …
